Blast at Belarusian “Pinskdrev” plant: casualties reported (Photo, video)

A blast has taken place in the chipboard workshop of Pinsk woodworking plant, and storage bunkers went on fire.

As charter97.org website has been informed by eyewitnesses from the scene of the event, the smoke from Pinskdrev plant could be seen from every part of the city.

People who came to the gatehouse of the enterprise, were told that there were victims, and ambulances arrived there one after another.

Journalists and TV cameramen are not allowed to enter the enterprise.

As charter97.org website was informed by the spokesperson of the Emergency Situations Ministry Vitaly Navitski, at the moment it is known that the blast had taken place in the chipboard workshop. A roof of about square metres collapsed.

The Emergency Situations Ministry informs that 2 persons were killed, 18 were taken to the hospital.

At the same time Pinks dwellers inform that the number of victims is much higher.

The reason of the blast is being investigated. The fire started at 1 p.m., was localized at 2.10 p.m. and liquidated at 3.14 p.m., the Emergency Situations Ministry reports.

Pinskdrev workers say that there were at the plant before, but such a strong blast had never happened.

The territory of the plant is surrounded by policemen and KGB officers, “Radio Svaboda” informs.
