The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has refused to run for president of Belarus.

Syarhei Haidukevich, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, applied to the Central Election Commission for withdrawal from presidential election in Belarus, Interfax-Zapad news agency learnt on Friday from the LDP press service.

“Haidukevich has applied for withdrawal to the Central Election Commission,” the press service informs.

Haidukevich commented on his decision: “I’ve received information from regions that more than 100 thousand of voices have been collected. I asked if the milestone of 100 thousand was overcome. I heard the answer ‘Yes’, and then I said I would withdraw.”

The LDP leader explained his decision: “I do not want to take part in this show. The party has demonstrated that we have the potential, we are active. We’ll use this activity in another way.”

We remind that the LDP head run in all election campaigns in Belarus along with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
