Sannikov was to be transferred to colony handcuffed

The presidential candidate did not received security guarantees in the Babruisk colony.

Andrei Sannikov was transferred from the Mahilou prison to the penal colony in Babruik today at 2 am. In spite of numerous appeals and protests of his lawyer, he did not received security guarantees. Moreover, the politician was threatened that he may be transferred in handcuffs, charter97.org learnt from political prisoner’s wife Iryna Khalip.

Besides, he was asked in the Mahilou prison why he did not want to simplify his life in an easy way – by applying for a pardon. Andrei Sannikov categorically refused to do this.

The political prisoner was asked how he was going to apply for release on parole in 3.5 years, if he refused to sign documents on “obeying the law”.

Taking into account repeated threats to his life and health, Sannikov refuses to go to the colony until receiving solid guarantees of his security and eliminating the threat to his life and health that was artificially created by the Corrections Department and the administration of detention facility Nr2 in Vitsebsk and Mahilou prison Nr4.

We remind that Andrei Sannikov’s wife, Iryna Khalip, said at a press conference in Minsk yesterday that the presidential candidate’s transfer from the Navapolatsk penal colony to the colony in Babruisk already lasted more than a week. The political prisoner is in prison in Mahilou now. Andrei Sannikov is under pressure receiving threats to kill him either during the transit or in the Babbruisk colony. The pressure is obviously applied to make the political prisoner sign a pardon petition.
