The hydrologist was on a business trip: he was measuring the speed of the current, the depth and width of the river.

On the evening of October 11, a border guard detained a Polish citizen on a boat on the Belarusian side of the Western Buh. It was reported by the press service of the State Border Committee of Belarus.

As it turned out, the man is a hydrologist (a specialist in the study of natural waters, their properties, distribution and processes in them) from the Institute of Meteorology and Agriculture, which is located in Warsaw.

He was on a business trip at the border: he was measuring the speed of the current, the depth and width of the river. The specialist crossed over to the Belarusian shore in an inflatable boat to make measurements.

"When he was fastening the measuring line, the border guards approached him to check the relevant documents. The foreigner did not have them, so he was detained for further investigation," – the the State Border Committee informed.

At present, the man has been brought to administrative responsibility under the Art. 23.29 (an illegal crossing of the state border) and 23.55 (violation of the rules of stay) of the Administrative Code of Belarus. The citizen of Poland will have to pay a fine.
