Mikalai Statkevich Notifies Minsk City Executive Committee On Outraged Belarusians' March 2.0

The action starts at 2 p.m. on October 21 in the Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress Mikalai Statkevich has already notified the Minsk City Executive Committee on planning to hold the action Outraged Belarusians' March 2.0. The politician has informed this on Facebook:

''I sent a letter of the following contents to the Minsk City Executive Committee:

In accordance with the right, guaranteed by Article 35 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and the internatiоnal agreements, signed by our country, I am notifying herewith about the intention of the Belarusian National Congress to hold the Outraged Belarusians' March 2.0. The event starts at 2 p.m. on October 21 in the Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.

In Belarus, there is no legally elected Parliament, and, correspondingly, no legitimate procedure of realization of the constitutional right to freedom of gatherings and demonstrations. Therefore, in accordance with the practice, accepted in the neighbouring countries, I would like to inform about our intention to hold the action on October 21, five days prior to the event.

The previous experience of addressing to the Minsk City Executive Committee with regard to the planned peaceful gatherings showed unwillingness of the authorities to comply with the legislation and the international obligations, taken by our country. Thus, I am suggesting herewith to fullfill the requirements of the Constitution and secure unhindered and safe conducting of the mass event.''
