Three Soldiers From Pechy Held In Navinki Mental Hospital

One of them attempted to commit suicide.

A soldier who attempted suicide on the eve of Aliaksandr Korzhych’s death in Pechy, is now treated in the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Mental Health.

— My son was hospitalized to navinki indeed, it happened last week, — the mother of one of the soldiers of the military unit #39864 in Pechy tells tut.by. — Why is he here? They are torturing our children there: demand money, steal personal belongings. I earn very little, my son takes the whole situation close to the heart. According to the mother, her son did not attempt suicide, but in a personal conversation with the bosses he said: “I can no longer stand it. I'll do something with myself.”

— It’s not just me who send money to my son, also his friends, his girlfriend. They tirtured him in thew army morally and physically. Of course I will go and talk with the army bosses, I will not keep silence, my child went to the army in perfect health, and I want to have him back as healthy, — the soldier’s mother says. — My son became secretive, he is scared to tell anything.

Another soldier from the same military unit #39864 is held in the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Mental Health. His relatives stated straightaway in a conversation with the journalists, that the guy really liked the army, he eagerly told about the military service, until he had a surgery.

— My son had a furuncle under his eye, and they cut it incorectly. There was an infection which ended in a sepsis. He was rescued in the intensive care department at the military hospital. They healed him physically, but his moral health was undermined. He asked for help, and on October 5 he was hospitalized to Navinki, — the mother of the soldier from Pechy says. — The whole army is focused on money now. If you have money, you will be honoured, if not — you are a nobody. It would be easier to pay not to serrve in the army than to send soldiers there.

The soldier himself, according to his mother, did not see anything terrible in that it was necessary to pay those who are higher in rank. Money was sent to him by both mother and brother. Before the service of her son, the woman made a second bank card foro the soldier, where her salary was transferred. She took off most of the money, the rest could be taken by the son.

— Sometimes he would go to the canteen five times a day, I used to joke “A cow could eat so much, not you.” I was angry, but he said it was life. Besides, my son declared no one beat him in the army. Hazing is not beating in the current realities, it’s pulling money from younger soldiers. Once Bn 45 was gone in two days, because the sergeant allowed to call home and go to the canteen. It is known that another soldier who attempted suicide was also sent to the Navinki hospital.

At the moment, the Investigatory Committee is investigating the death of Aliaksandr Korzhych in Pechy, three versions are being worked out, among them - murder. The criminal case was taken under the president's personal control.

— True, three persons are now treated in the Navinki mental hospital, including the youngster who attempted suicide on the eve of the soldier’s (Aliaksandr Korzhych’s – edit.) death. The attempt was prevented by the officials of the 72nd unified training center. It was revealed that he tried to kill himself four times before the army, anmd his relatives hid this information, no matter how sad it sounds, — Spokesman for the chief administration of the ideological work of the Ministry of Defense Uladzimir Makarau comments. — Moreover, after the spring draft the military institution revealed that 3,5% of soldiers were registered with a psychiatrist.

— How could they get to the army then?

The media reported earlier that the soldier who had found the body of Aliaksandr Korzhych was also hospitalized to the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Mental Health in Navinki. The Ministry of Defense doesn’t confirm this information.
