Viktar Rubtsou: We Need To Change Bald Tire With Sticking Wire

Important changes have already occurred in the outgoing year – the Belarusians believed in their power.

Homel video blogger and the author of the popular YouTube project Rotary Harvester Viktar Rubtsou said this is the BNC press service.

– What are the main results of 2017 for Belarus, for the opposition, for you personally?

– In my opinion, this year was full of significant events. The first important event is protest actions against Decree No. 3. Tens of thousands of Belarusians participated in such protests for the first time and for the first time forced the authorities to yield. Intensity of emotions was such in winter-spring, that many felt their strength and believed in themselves, they believed in the changes here and now. And the changes occurred, many felt their strength and believed in themselves. Of course, I also want to mention the defense of Kurapaty. It was something magical – the Belarusians again showed that they were ready to stay to the end, to stand up not for material benefits, but for the idea, for their moral values.

Such a beginning of the year united citizens, they understood what solidarity stands for. And this was confirmed by the reaction to the tragedy that happened in Pechy. People expressed their indignation so loudly that they forced Lukashenka to lean forward again, and generals to fidget nervously in their chairs.

Personally for me, this year has become a year of struggle, I would even say a year of creative struggle. I started this year on the barricades, in the forefront, and continued on the Internet space. I met like-minded people, such as Saburau Dzima and Shaparau Artsiom on the barricades, we organized a YouTube channel where we upload our videos, tell about the meetings with officials and share our vision of the situation in Belarus. The project has been successfully developing since then and has already brought many small victories in my hometown. And this is very motivating to continue what has been started.

– How can we ensure that the next year was even more successful for us?

– The opposition must unite and become one power. This is sometimes very difficult, because everyone sees the changes in their own way. Nevertheless, I would like the supporters of changes to find common ground and unite at least on the principle "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Opposition, all of us, should develop the successes of this year and unite people around us.

– What would you wish Belarusians in 2018?

– To get awareness of one's own strength, to realize ourselves as a nation. Then indifference to the problems of fellow citizens will fade away. We are all one family, no one can divide us into parasites and entrepreneurs, laborers and collective farmers and so on. We have this power – to multiply such divisors by zero. And, of course, I wish we finally changed the bald tire with sticking wire in 2018.
