Did Drunk Policemen Rob Hitchhiker In Baranavichy?

The Investigative Committee for Brest region does not want to disclose details of the incident.

In late November, the Investigative Committee instituted criminal proceedings: 70 rubles had been stolen from a 43-year-old man from Liakhavichy. It is interesting that two policemen were held as suspects, nn.by writes.

There’s not much accurate information. The Investigative Committee has confirmed that on November 25, a case was initiated under the article "robbery". Three men are the suspects: 32-year-old and 30-year-old residents of Liakhavichy, a 28-year-old resident of Baranavichy. The Investigative Committee for Brest region does not want to disclose other details of the incident.

Meanwhile, it is rumoured in Liakhavichy that local police officers are suspected in the crime.

As if on November 24, two officers of the security department – an ensign and a captain – were drinking together in Baranavichy. Their acquaintance took them to get more spirits, they picked up a man along the way who was hitching a lift on the side of the road. The passenger told them he felt very negative about the police, because he had been deprived of his driver's license for driving in a drunken state. The policemen didn’t like such conversations, and they either threatened the passenger with violence, or, after giving him some blows, took away 70 rubles from him.

It is difficult to say at the moment whether this version corresponds to reality.

"We are not commenting on this story. The man has given testimony against our employees, but it is just one person's words," – Uladzimir Tsianchyk, the head of the ideological work department of the Brest regional security department, told Nasha Niva.

Investigators report that all the three suspects are under a written undertaking not to leave the place. If the men are found guilty, they will face up to 6 years in prison.
