Solidarity movement Razam honors memory of Belarusian patriot Leanid Barazna

Activists from Minsk, Barysau and Vorsha gathered to honor one of the leaders of the national revival.

On August 15, 45 years have passed since the day when Leanid Barazna, an artist, one of the leaders of the nationalist movement, was killed.

On this day, at the grave of this outstanding patriot in Talochyn, Vitsebsk region, the solidarity movement Razam held an action in his honor, in which public activists from Babior, Barysau, Vorsha, Minsk took part, the co-chairman of the movement Alena Taustaya reports.

At the beginning of the action, the priest of the Belarusian Autocephalous Church, Father Vikentius, said a memorial prayer.

The artists of the association Pahonia Mikola Kupava, Ales Pushkin, Henadz Drazdou said heartfelt words about Leanid Barazna.

Henadz Drazdou voiced the initiative to create a public fund for artistic and cultural heritage named after Leanid Barazna.

Alena Taustaya noted in her speech that today, in the conditions when the existing regime persecute patriots and our country faces the threat of losing its independence, Leanid Barazna's words are especially relevant: "Even if it is impossible to breathe, it is necessary to expand the Belarusianness through interhuman relations."

The chairman of the Vorsha branch of the "Belarusian Language Society" Yury Nahorny, the film director Aleksei Turovich, the poet and bard Zmitser Zakharevich also made a speech at the action. After that the participants of the event paid tribute to the artist with a minute of silence and laid flowers and lit candles at his grave.
