Femen Activist Lawyer: Investigation Has To Question Poroshenko And Lukashenka
ANGELIKA DIAS

The lawyer’s request has already been registered in the Pechersk District Court of Kiev.

Lawyer Yaroslav Yatsenko demands to interrogate Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Petro Poroshenko as witnesses in the case of Femen activist Angelina Dias who organized the performance "Long Live Belarus!" during a press conference in Kiev on July 21.

The Ukrainian court qualified the actions of the Femen activist as a criminal offense – she is charged with hooliganism, resisting to a representative of the authorities under Part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (it carries several sanctions – the fine of 8,5 to 17 thousand hryvnia (300-650 dollars in equivalent), the arrest for up to six months and the restriction of liberty (for up to five years).

As Radio Svaboda was informed by Yaroslav Yatsenko, the relevant petition was handed over and registered in the Pechersk District Court of Kiev.

"From the materials of the criminal case it follows that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka were the witnesses of the events of July 21, which became the basis for accusing Angelina Dias and qualifying her actions as a criminal offense. The witnesses have to be questioned in order to clarify all the circumstances," – the document says.

According to the procedural legislation of Ukraine, this petition is to be considered within three days.

"Tomorrow, the investigator is going to interrogate Angelina Diash in this case at the Pechersk district police department of Kiev, and, probably, the decision on this petition will be already known," – Yaroslav Yatsenko said.

On August 15, Angelina Diaswas charged of committing a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – "use of a knowingly counterfeit document." As it is known, the Femen activist came with a false journalistic certificate at the meeting of Petro Poroshenko and Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
