Picket In Support Of Charter-97 Held In New York

The UN has learned about blocking the independent website.

Social activist Aliaksandr Sochneu has written on Facebook about it:

"When I put up a white-red-white flag on the Times-square in New York, a woman approached to me. She asked me: "Well, how is Charter there?"

I was surprised. She had a little strange Russian, but we understood each other. It turned out that she is from Estonia and works in the UN. An employee or a diplomat – I did not find out. She said she had read a review, it turns out that all the pickets and rallies near the UN building are reported to the Secretary General.

On February 4, there was our rally in support of Charter'97 at the UN building. One must resist, even one person matters.

Little hacks make big oaks fall. What is needed for the triumph of evil? It is necessary that good, fair, decent people did not do anything, saw the deeds of the evil and passed by silently, pretending that’s of no concern to them. We are a nation of people by themselves. Everyone struggles with this deceitful and thievish power on his own.

Therefore, everyone must decide: I struggle with this evil or just wait for it to finally ruin me and eat me away. And if a certain percentage of the people decide to defend their rights to the end and not to budge, the individuals will merge into an invincible army, as separate drops merge into a single powerful stream that is washing away the dirt.

I wanted to demonstrate not only solidarity by my short posters, but also my attitude to the current Belarusian government and Lukashenka," – Aliaksandr Sochneu wrote.
