Deputy Minister Of Labor: We Are To Get Back To Issue Of Raising Retirement Age

The pension "reform" is not implemented till the end.

It was stated by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Aliaksandr Rumak during a question-and-answer session in the Rural Newspaper, tut.by writes.

The deputy was asked about the possibility of increasing the retirement age "following European standards," and of increasing the size of pensions.

– So far, the current program of raising the retirement age has not been implemented till the end. It’s too soon to cross the bridges, but it may happen that we will have to get back to the issue of raising the retirement age, – Aliaksandr Rumak said. – Most likely, the recalculation of pensions will take place in the second half of the year. It’s too early to speak about how much it will grow: the increase will depend on the amount of money received by the Social Protection Fund.

Aliaksandr Rumak reminded a 74-year-old pensioner, who complained that her pension was 290 rubles, of which 170 rubles she had to spend on medicines and communal bills, that years of work after reaching retirement age are not taken into the employment record. "It is commendable that you continued working on reaching the retirement age," – the deputy minister said.
