Yerevan And Minsk Protests Have Something In Common: Impressive Photos

It has worked in Armenia, and it will be achieved in Belarus as well.

Looking through the photos of the mass demonstrations that will go down in history as the velvet revolution in Yerevan, one can’t help remembering the photos from Minsk rallies, Salidarnasts writes.

The police in Yerevan acted in the same way as the Belarusian security officers when dispersing a rally: people were being beaten with rubber truncheons, journalists were being threatened and their equipment was being smashed, some protesters were being attacked by organized groups wearing masks and without identification marks.

Young Yerevan resident Lusine Burtoyan approached the cordon of the police herself.

– Will you join us? Why do you protect him [Serzh Sargsyan]. Why are not you with the people? – the girl was sobbing.

The author of the photo, Amos Chapple has told journalists this story.

Do you remember Lyudmila, the nurse who knelt down in front of the riot policemen on March 25, 2017?

As she said in her interview to Salidarnasts, she had been standing on her knees and praying.

– ... You know, if one of those guys could hear it, and they could... I'm not looking for a revolution, I want to compromise without violence. And even without ambition, so I'm not ashamed to stand on my knees.
