Villagers Fight For Free Forest And Lake Near Ivatsevichy

A barrier blocked the road to national wealth.

Villagers fight for free access to the forest and the lake Vyhanaschy in the Ivatsevichy district, Radio Racyja reports. A barrier blocks the road to national wealth. The fee is 20 kopecks per person per hour and 50 kopecks for car parking per hour.

The fee per hour is bigger for a guided tour. Fishing fee, of course, is much more expensive, and if you want to do it on your boat, it will be even more expensive. People want to go on mushroom hunt, collect berries, swim in the lake for free, given that the forest and water heritage are in public ownership. Therefore, the villagers sent a petition, signed by over 70 people, to the Lukashenka's administration.

– We prepared a collective petition and attached all documents, appeals to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office, answer from Belovezhskaya Pushcha to it. I would very much appreciate if the attitude towards people was human, legal and our rights were observed. Let's hope there will be some kind of reaction. We expect the meeting to be held and we, the locals, hope to receive the answers, – Aliaksandr Ivanou, the father of many children, said.

According to Aliaksandr Ivanou, even such a small fee for attending the forest and the lake hits the pocket of the villagers. For example, children from a care home, who wanted to go to the lake with a teacher, had to turn back at the barrier, because they couldn't pay the fee.
