Amendments To Constitution Of Belarus Got In Front Of Lukashenka

The dictator isn't sure if he's ready to present them to the public.

Lukashenka got acquainted with possible amendments to the Constitution of the country. He told journalists about it today after voting at "elections of deputies of the house of representatives," BelTA informs.

"I have said that we need to make steps in this direction. It would be silly from me to say that we will change the Constitution by the presidential election, - Lukashenka said. - Elements of the new Constitution from the point of view of the Constitutional Court have been submitted to me."

"If I deem it necessary, I will make it available for the public. During the third stage the society will, probably, discuss this Constitution," - the dictator added.

Lukashenka said that there are no timelines for amending the Constitution. "I have never and will never set any timelines. When the draft is ready, we will move to the second, third, fourth stage. This is how it should proceed. We should not be in a hurry, this is a serious issue which will affect the life in the country and its development in the future," - the dictator said.

The ruler also added that the Constitutional Court judges left their signatures under their proposals when those proposals were made. "There is personal responsibility for the fate of the country, for how they will live in this country, for how their children will live here. I was surprised and pleased that they are not going to break the existing Constitution. Responsibility for the document is an essential thing," - Lukashenka concluded.
