Searches Held In Houses Of Youth Activists In Brest

Some of them had their phones, USB drives, stickers and books seized for examination.

In the morning of May 22, law-enforcement officers came over to the places of several youth activists in Brest, with an aim to conduct a look-over of their places of residence. HR defenders of the human rights center “Viasna” learned about this.

Deputy Public Prosecutor of Brest A.S. Ralinski sanctioned these visits.

The reason for holding look-overs was the discovery of leaflets with the “anarchist contents” in the Adamkouskaya Street on April 30 by the law-enforcers. According to the police, the people who had pasted the leaflets committed an administrative offense, as they broke the regulations of landscaping and maintenance of populated areas.

By now, three cases of such look-overs have been reported. Some of the youngsters had their phones, USB drives, stickers and books seized for examination.
