Campaign In Support Of Oleg Sentsov Held In Minsk

The Ukrainian director has turned 43 years old.

On July 13th, a campaign "Quad Letter" was held in Minsk to mark the birthday of the Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, who is held in the Russian colony, the Crimea Realities reports.

The evening was organized by the Russian initiative RosUznik, the Belarusian Human Rights Centre Viasna, the Belarusian PEN-center and the Embassy of Ukraine in Minsk. Maksim Viniarski, one of the coordinators of the European Belarus civil campaign, took part in the event.

According to the Crimea Realities, the guests of the evening read letters of Russian and Ukrainian political prisoners, as well as of other prisoners for political reasons in Russia.

The evening participants were buying Oleh Sentsov's books and writing him letters and postcards, which were to be sent to the Russian prison.

Yana Goncharova, coordinator of the RosUznik initiative, reported that she had received a letter from Sentsov from the Russian colony three days earlier, in which he asked about the fate of other Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. According to her, he did not complain about anything and said that he was writing a new film script and a new book.

On July 14th, the film "Transferred Through Half of the Earth" about Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko, convicted with him, was shown in Minsk.

On Saturday, July 13, Oleg Sentsov turned 43. That was the sixth birthday he met in prison. Now Sentsov is in the colony of the town of Labytnangi in the north of Russia.
