European Belarus Activist: One Woman's Husband Brought Her Passport From Other Side Of City

A picket to collect signatures has been held in Maladzechna.

Activists of the European Belarus civil campaign have collected signatures for nominating Andrei Markau as a candidate for deputy. The picket to collect signatures took place near St. Joseph's Church in Prytytski Street. Andrei also participated in the picket to collect signatures and shared his impressions with the press service of European Belarus:

- A lot of people were coming up - primarily because of the symbols. Not everybody signed, but everyone wished good luck, exchanged contacts, shared problems and offered other help. There were a lot of complaints about local officials, about the lawlessness of the police, about salaries and pensions. There were people of different ages - from young people to pensioners. One woman saw us and immediately called her husband to bring her passport from the other side of the city.

Everyone is saying that we need change. This is very inspiring. I held the picket to collect signatures after work, and I was tired, but after communicating with people, I and other participants experienced an unprecedented rise. The music, the conversations, the support - just great! We got a huge boost of energy.

The next picket to collect signatures for nominating Andrei Markau as a candidate will take place on September 12 from 17.00 to 20.30 in the park near St. Joseph's Church in Prytytski Street. We invite residents of Maladzechna and Maladzechna district. Do not forget to take your passport!
