Celebrating City Day Together: European Belarus Campaign In Minsk City Center

The election picket to collect signatures was held on Winners Avenue.

About 20 activists of the European Belarus civil campaign were collecting signatures in the center of Minsk, the europeanbelarus.org website reports.

The events dedicated to the City Day - Minsk Half-Marathon and Wargaming Fest - were held there today. Hundreds of Minsk citizens saw flags with Pahonia and the symbols of the European Union, many of them came up to the activists, talked to them and left their signatures.

Many passers-by took pictures with national symbols, wished good luck and spoke in support of activists. Some shouted "Long live Belarus" and left their contacts.

A lot of people joined the picketers. The stand often had a queue of people willing to sign for the European Belarus candidates.

"For 25 years we have been ruled by dictator Lukashenka. This is a huge period of time. It's time to regain freedom. Sign for the European Belarus candidates. Our main goals are the change of power at all levels, the closure of the nuclear power plant in Astravets and ensuring a decent standard of living for the Belarusians in their homeland. Together we can achieve them," - one of the activists, Andrei Voynich, said.

- People react very well, come up, fraternise. "Everyone's had enough of Lukashenka for 25 years. 90% - against the collective farm dictator. People are tired of corruption and banditry. People come up to us and talk about it. We collect signatures, listen to great music, the mood is great," - Volha Nikalaichyk, an activist of European Belarus, a member of the parliamentary campaign, said.

"People are not the ones that they used to be in the '90s. Today, most people support democratic changes and the opposition, speaking out against this power. You know, it's usually like that: I'm good, but everyone is bad. The opposition is bad and has done nothing. Nobody wants to take responsibility. In fact, everything depends only on us. There will be no changes until we take responsibility," - one of the participants of the campaign to collect signatures for the European Belarus activists, Valeryj Bychkouski, said.

- The fate of our homeland depends only on us. Together we can defend our country. Join and support the European Belarus candidates, - campaign coordinator Maksim Viniarski said.

During the picket several hundred people came up to its participants, dozens signed up for the nomination of European Belarus candidates.
