Aliaksandr Kabanau: Battery Factory Near Brest Has No Legal Right To Work
ALIAKSANDR KABANAU

Brest residents will seek punishment for those officials who have allowed the construction of the harmful enterprise.

The situation with the iPower factory near Brest is still uncertain, Radio Racyja reports.

Some time ago, several trucks of ready-made batteries were driven out, but according to the law, the plant can't work. Blogger Aliaksandr Kabanau, one of the active fighters against the battery plant, is sure.

"The plant has no documents so that they can start their activities. In order to do that, they need to pass an environmental impact assessment. After it is completed, and if the documents on the public environmental expertise are submitted directly to the Ministry, then the iPower Company will be able to submit these documents for the Environmental Protection Ministry's expertise," - the activist says.

According to Aliaksandr Kabanau, the public environmental impact assessment can be appointed at public hearings. Therefore, it is necessary to cancel the fictitious first hearings and appoint another ones. The initiative group will also seek punishment for those officials who've given permission to build the harmful enterprise near the city.
