The Belarusian ruler finds himself in the most difficult situation.

Relations between the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus have reached the point of maximum aggravation - the most serious one in the last quarter of the century. And the Kremlin will increase pressure on Minsk and Lukashenko at least until "presidential elections" in Belarus, scheduled for August 30.

Ukrainian expert on Belarus Andrei Palivoda writes about this in his article on zn.ua.

"It's enough to take a look at the Russian information field to make sure that the Russian media have received an order. And the pressure on Lukashenka will only increase in the run-up to the "presidential elections," - the observer says.

At the same time, the expert considers it unlikely that Moscow can weaken its grip and return to the previous model of relations with Minsk. However, he does not totally rule out such a scenario.

"We've already seen more than once that the relationship between Minsk and Moscow was almost a cold war. But then the parties suddenly found common ground, and Lukashenka got everything he needed. It is unlikely, of course, that this time it will happen. But the probability of such an outcome is still not zero," - Palivoda writes.

"There are enough towers in the Kremlin, whose residents have received good dividends from the previous model of relations with Belarus and would like to return it," - the expert sums up.
