Medical Certificates For Drivers: Five Important Changes Occurred

Medical Certificates For Drivers: Five Important Changes Occurred

Journalists analyzed the resolution of the Ministry of Health of Belarus.

In 2019, a new resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus entered into force, which made life easier for many drivers. The approach to admittance to driving category “B” motor vehicles has become more liberal. The list of requirements has been reduced - now even those who could not think about it before can drive a car now, intex-press.by writes.

1. New terms of re-examination

The decision provides for an increase in the time for re-examination for several diseases. For example, earlier a person who had a myocardial infarction had to undergo a commission every year. Now they need to undergo a medical examination annually in the first two years, then - once every two years. In addition, if earlier, after suffering a myocardial infarction, driving was allowed only after a year, now the term has been reduced to six months. True, a doctor takes into account the state of health of a driver.

“Concessions” were also given to people with hearing problems. If earlier drivers with bilateral deafness passed a commission for category “B” once every two years, now they will do it every five years.

2. Disregarding “hiring”

Admission to driving motor vehicles of category “B” is now carried out without taking “hiring” into account.

3. Drive until you go in labor

Pregnant women who have the “B” category licence can now drive a car at any time - right up to the time of delivery. Previously, pregnant women were allowed to drive until the 30th week of pregnancy. Innovations affected only the “B” category.

For the remaining categories, the restriction remains the same: after the 12th week of pregnancy you can not drive.

4. With deafness - to taxi drivers

Changes affected drivers of various disability groups. In particular, drivers with impaired musculoskeletal function will now be able to work in some driving specialties, and people with deafness are allowed to drive a taxi.

5. Cancer patients allowed to drive

Previously, a person with an oncological disease was allowed to drive only after treatment, being in a state of remission and based on the conclusion of an oncologist. Now it is possible in all cases, except for the patients of the IV clinical group of cancer (not stage IV - edit.), receiving palliative care.
