Activists have put up a large white-red-white flag in the city center.

In the morning, March 25, Hrodna citizens gathered in the city center to read the Third Statute of the Belarusian People's Republic and sing the national hymns, Radio Svaboda reports.

At about 7 a.m. Hrodna activists hung a large white-red-white flag on one of the office buildings in the center of Hrodna, read out the Third Statute, according to which BPR was declared an independent state in 1918.

In addition, the men sang hymns "Pahonia" and "We Will Come out in Dense Rows". This is how Hrodna citizens began celebrating Freedom Day.

"In 1918, under German occupation, Minsk proclaimed the Belarusian Independent Republic, - one of the participants of the celebration, Deputy Chairman of the BPF Party Vadzim Saranchukou, said. - I can't say that the outright occupation has survived today, but those freedoms, democratic norms, institutions, which were established then, have not been fully implemented.

Therefore, we continue to reaffirm our commitment to these ideals and declare that all our activities are aimed at achieving the goals that were set by the founding fathers of our state".

VADZIM SARANCHUKOU - IN THE CENTER

Sarachukou noted that during the pandemic, a mass celebration in the city has been cancelled. Today, Hrodna citizens also plan to lay flowers at the graves of famous Belarusians in Hrodna.

"We urge all Belarusians to celebrate on their own this holiday, which should be in every home," - he added.
