Tobacco contraband worth 3.6 million euros was found in two trucks that were traveling from Belarus, reports zerkalo.io with reference to the Lithuanian customs service.

Heavy trucks crossed the border at the end of last week. Both were traveling from Belarus. One followed through the Lavoriskes checkpoint. In total, the smugglers tried to bring 642 thousand packs into the country. The market value of the contraband is 2.24 million euros.

The second truck with contraband was driving through the Medininkai checkpoint. The Russian driver told the customs officers that he was going through Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region. In the semi-trailer, among the legal goods, 400 packs of contraband cigarettes worth 1.4 million euros were found.

Heavy trucks were delivered to the impoundment. The contraband was seized, and the drivers were taken into custody.
