Russian National Guard Holds Anti-Migrant Raid On Wildberries Warehouse In Moscow Region

At least 40 people were detained.

The police and the Russian National Guard conducted a raid at the Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal, near Moscow, as a result of which dozens of migrant workers were detained, The Moscow Times writes.

“Verification activities are being carried out, passport control and work permits are being monitored,” the TASS agency source said.

“At the Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal, documents of performers are being checked as part of the work of the migration service and law enforcement agencies,” the company’s press service confirmed.

As a result of the raid, at least forty people were detained, Mash clarifies. According to the channel, at least five thousand warehouse employees came under inspection. Some migrants are put in paddy wagons — the Telegram channel claims that they are taken to military registration and enlistment offices. According to warehouse employees, they also check military ID cards. “They check who is on the military side and who is evading. Those who evade can be taken away without permission,” Astra quotes one of its employees. “Whoever resists is beaten with sticks by the riot police,” says another worker.

Raids on migrants and people who have recently received Russian citizenship to send them to military registration and enlistment offices have been carried out in Russia since the beginning of the summer of 2023. The raids took place at the Chinese market in Chelyabinsk, at the Khiloksky market in Novosibirsk, at the Sofia vegetable warehouse in St. Petersburg, as well as in the Sverdlovsk region and Chuvashia.
