Expert: Putin’s Plans Reveal His Strong Dependence On China

The Kremlin is afraid of an unexpected decision by the PRC.

The planned visit to China of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin after the “inauguration” indicates the strong dependence of the Russian Federation on the PRC.

This opinion was expressed today, on April 26, on the FREEDOM TV channel by the director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Ihor Semivolos.

“China is extremely important for Russia. And practically, the very fact of Putin’s visit to China indicates his serious dependence on the Chinese economy, on China as a whole, that, in fact, the sanctions that apply against Russia can only be effective if China adheres to them. Therefore, Russia’s task is to prevent such developments,” Semivolos said.

He noted that the question has not yet been clarified to what extent the West is really ready for serious sanctions against China.

“That is, there are no obvious, clear indicators that say that if China acts like this, we will act like this. So far, all this is at the level of conversations and preliminary threats that may or may not be realized. Let’s wait and see,” the expert said.
