Estonian Foreign Ministry: The West Should Be Open To Macron’s Idea
EMMANUEL MACRON

Ukraine's victory has a direct impact on security in the region.

Estonia and other allies should be open to discussing the idea, floated by French President Emmanuel Macron, of sending NATO troops to Ukraine.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Kyllike Sillaste-Elling, Voice of America reports.

“We have to be open to ideas. Instead of constantly communicating what we are not going to do to help Ukraine, we should communicate what we think we should do,” Sillaste-Elling said.

At the same time, she added that currently no activities are being carried out in preparation for sending foreign troops to Ukraine.

“But for us, in any case, all options are on the table. We are open to considering different options,” noted the Estonian diplomat.

According to her, perhaps it will not be about “direct combat with the Russians,” but about training or certain special tasks.

Sillaste-Elling also noted that Ukraine is currently a priority for Estonia.

“Our priority is everything about Ukraine. Because Ukraine’s victory has a direct impact on our security. Ukraine is fighting right now mainly for us, for our safety, therefore we are doing everything we can to help,” she added.
