Belarusian With Grenade Detained In St. Petersburg Metro

The day before, law enforcement officers had to close one of the St. Petersburg metro stations and take the people out urgently.

The reason for that was a grenade of the World War II, which had been found in the bag of a Belarusian, nation-news.ru reports.

The police officers found the dangerous cargo at the St. Petersburg metro in the evening, inspecting large bags. The grenade could be seen quite distinctly in the luggage on the monitor of an X-ray apparatus Kolan.

The owner of the bag and dangerous cargo was a 42-year-old citizen of the Republic of Belarus. The police had to close the station for 20 minutes and take the people out urgently. At about 20:00, the passengers were allowed to enter the station.

According to the source of the Nation News Agency, the explosive shell was made during the WWII. The grenade was sent to the MIA Expert Forensic Center for research. The Belarusian – to the police station.
