Investigatory Committee Resumes Investigation Into Case Of Barysau Soldier Artsiom Bastsiuk

The soldier had died in Barysau half a year before Aliaksandr Korzhych did.

The mother of the deceased soldier Tatsiana informed this to Radio Liberty. The Bastsiuk family had been informed about the resume of the case by the Investigatory Committee.

“The Investigatory Committee has resumed investigation into the case on my son’s death. The lawyer has just reported the news to us,” — says mother of Artsiom Bastsiuk Tatsiana.

Artsiom Bastsiuk was found hanged at the territory of the military unit in Barysau on March 31. On the fact of his death, the Investigatory Committee instituted criminal proceedings. Bastsiuk’s family insisted that other servicemen bullied and harassed him. Herein, they named concrete persons.

In May, the Bastsiuk family were at a reception with the Minister of Defense, he promised the relatives of the deceased soldier to sort out the situation. On October 12, six months later, and 9 days after the death of Aliaksandr Korzhych, the Investigatory Committee reported the termination of the Bastsiuk case. His family were going to appeal this decision, but only four days later it became known that the decision to close the case was canceled.
