Viachaslau Siuchyk Sentenced To Third 15-Day Arrest
Viachaslau Siuchyk

The verdict was made for the defense of the independence of Belarus.

Judge of the Partyzanski district court of Minsk Natallia Dziadkova sentenced leader of the Razam solidarity movement Viachaslau Siuchyk for another 15 days of administrative arrest, Radio Svaboda reports.

Siuchyk was accused of “violating the procedure for holding a mass even”, which refers to the protest against the integration of Belarus and Russia, which was held on December 21, 2019.

This is the third 15-day arrest that Siuchyk got in the Partyzanski District Court for the actions held last December (the last two sentences were from Judge Anatol Barysenka). However, it may not be the last: the next court hearing will be held in the same court on February 24.

Two previous sentences to Siuchyk were postponed for more than a month, since the defendant was abroad. But in the end, the activist was still convicted in absentia. He considered that the prosecutor himself should have appealed against such sentences.

At the beginning of last week, two administrative cases for violating the law on mass events were stopped regarding Siuchyk, as the statute of limitations for the offenses expired.

The December actions resulted in the sentences providing for more than a year of arrests, and over 100 thousand rubles of fines.
