Trump: Ukraine Crisis Would Never Have Happened If I Remained President

The former US president called on European countries to “take a step forward” in helping Ukraine.

The Republican Party is considering the possibility of resuming assistance to Ukraine, but only in the form of loans, former US President Donald Trump said at a joint press conference with Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson.

“As for the Ukraine aid bill, if the speaker moves forward with it, we are considering it right now […] and we are thinking about making it in the form of a loan, not just a gift. We [the United States] continue to give out gifts worth billions and billions of dollars,” Trump emphasized.

He also called on European countries to “take a step forward” in the issue of assistance to Ukraine, since, in his opinion, “they suffered much more” from the Russian war in Ukraine.

“The situation in Ukraine would never have happened if I were president. And everyone says this, including Democrats, it causes indignation among people. Millions of people are dying, millions of losses on both sides,” the ex-president added.
